Uganda Rugby Union

As Uganda Rugby Union, we are delighted to announce that we will be hosting the Rugby Africa Cup Group C games.  The theme this year is “AFRICA AS ONE”. These games will also double as the World Rugby 2023 qualifiers.

Earlier this week, the Uganda Rugby Cranes 15’s teams Ladies’ and Men’s went into camp in preparation for the games. Before going into camp, both teams were subjected to PCR tests for COVID -19 and will undergo regular testing by the Uganda Rugby Medical Society team. The teams are strictly observing COVID -19 SOPs in the bubble and will have no contact with anyone outside the bubble throughout this period.

The Rugby Africa Cup Group C games will be hosted in Uganda on 10th, 14th and 18th July 2021 at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds. For the first time ever the Lady Cranes Rugby team will host Zimbabwe Ladies while the Uganda Rugby Cranes host Ghana and Algeria. The fixtures will be as follows:

As we are all aware, Uganda is still under the 42-days lockdown instituted by His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni that started last month. In light of this there will be a “STRICT NO FANS ALLOWED” policy.

Uganda Rugby Union has maintained a great relationship with the Uganda Sports Press Association and would like to thank them for their support in the growth of the sport of rugby thus far.  Through this partnership, theUganda Rugby Union will work with Uganda Sports Press Association to accredit journalists to cover this tournament and they will be the only media personnel that will be given access to these games.

The accredited journalists will be required to show a valid negative COVID-19 test taken at least 24 hours before to gain access to the stadium on Game Days. Media will be provided with a Media station at the stadium and will be briefed on protocols to follow during coverage of the matches.

Due to the pandemic, fans will watch the games through a live stream channel which will be communicated in due course.

We appeal to the general public to please strictly adhere to the instructions that were given to us to ensure the safety of our players and visitors alike. We call upon the general public to continue to support the sport of rugby and promote Africa as One.
