Total Energies EP Uganda has today announced a two-year sponsorship for Uganda Rugby 7s men and women national teams.
The annual sponsorship worth USD 15,000 (UGX57 million) is aimed at facilitating the team’s training and development in line with TotalEnergies Foundation pillar of youth inclusion and education.
Speaking during the press conference held at Kyadondo Rugby Club, Mr. Jean Gavalda, Business, Development & Corporate Affairs Director, TotalEnergies EP Uganda said, “In a period of transition, children and young people represent our future and so they are our living heart.”
TotalEnergies EP Uganda has committed to make a positive impact on livelihood. Participating to youth inclusion is one of our pillars toward that goal. Rugby is interesting as the team is above the individual, and in same time the team does not perform without individuals. Rugby is standing together and performing.
Supporting the Uganda Rugby Union is supporting the training and development of thousands of young. It is also demonstrating that with courage and time, they can succeed. Uganda Sevens is Africa Champions 2022 and so is an exemplary path for leadership among young people. This sponsorship will be made towards women and men sevens teams who will promote the development and inclusion of youth thanks to sport values. Values that are shared by TotalEnergies EP Uganda: stand together, pioneer spirit, performance and safety” Total Energies is also the current official sponsor of the Rugby World Cup 2023 France.
The partnership provides an opportunity for the company to present its broad energy profile to a wider audience and, through this ambition, strengthen ties with its stakeholders.

On behalf of Total Energies EP Uganda, I would like to thank you all for joining us is here today to announce a partnership between our company and the Uganda Rugby Union

First and foremost, I take this opportunity to congratulate the Rugby Cranes Sevens for winning the Bowl at the Rugby World Cup Sevens. That was quite a game against Germany in the final; the way you guys got the job done was memorable. The game found me in one of Kampala TV store with friends we stayed right there watching you show them fire. Of course, I was proud to share that on my Twitter timeline. Because of your performance I bought a much bigger TV set so I can catch all your games in HD.You are worthy champions. Your story is one of courage what we call a pioneering spirit in TotalEnergies, focus what we call performance minded, and determination and that makes the two of us a perfect fit. You guys are three-time African Champions which is no mean feat at l and we applaud you for it.

As TotalEnergies EP Uganda, we are a brand associated with success, and together with the Uganda Rugby Union, we have agreed to work together to foster this success for us both. We can achieve a lot together and this is why we have taken a monumental step of announcing a two-year sponsorship for the Rugby Sevens men and women.

As part of the sponsorship, we shall give an initial annual package of USD 15,000 (Equivalent of UGX 57 million) towards activities of the National Women and Men’s rugby 7’s sides to cover publicity, training gear and logistics among others.

The partnership with Uganda Rugby Union will also entail Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) opportunities that we will undertake together. Through our partnership we hope to teach the game and its values to youth around the country, we understand there is no better way of growing the sport than spreading it to every corner of the country.

TotalEnergies EP Uganda (TEPU) annually supports the Buliisa, and Nwoya Football Mini-Leagues and we have entered into a partnership with Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) aimed at strengthening our efforts to facilitate the development of talented sportsmen in the community and also professionalization of the football sport.
