The Uganda Rugby National sevens team was hosted at a dinner by Obwa’Kyabazinga Bwa Busoga Institution (OBB) in Jinja City.
OBB was represented by the second deputy prime minister of Busoga Kingdom, Owek. Osman Noor Ahmed hosted the Rugby Cranes National sevens team at a sumptuous dinner held at Jinja Sailing Club in Jinja City over the weekend.
Present at the dinner was Gabula Foundation’s CEO, Isaac Imaka, Busoga Kingdom’s Minister for Constitutional Affairs Owek. Alex Luganda, Duncan Kiirya and other notable guests among others.
The Rugby Cranes National sevens team that was led by Coach Tolbert Onyango enjoyed a cool cold breeze, serene music and picturesque scenery at the shores of Lake Victoria.
The team hosted included; Ian Munyani, Aaron Ofoywroth, Michael Wokorach (Captain), Philip Wokorach, Adrian Kasito, Kelvin Balagadde, Ivan Otema, Nobert Okeny, Desire Ayera, Karim Arinaitwe, Timothy Kisiga, Isaac Massanganzira and Michael Wandera (Team Manager) at the technical side among others.Michael Wandera, the team manager, who introduced the players before Owek. Osman Noor Ahmed said that the team was honoured to be hosted by Busoga Kingdom.
Gabula Foundation’s CEO, Isaac Imaka, said they are looking forward to seeing the game spread in the sub region and as a foundation they will participate and collaborate with the National team players in taking the rugby game miles when they are ready.
Busoga Kingdom’s second deputy Prime Minister Owek. Osman Noor Ahmed, said it was a great day for the institution and they were so privileged to host the Uganda National rugby sevens team.
“I look forward to more engagements and I would like to assure you that we are open for partnership to promote the rugby sport in Busoga sub region,” Owek. Osman said adding that Busoga has a brand and requested the team to be part of the brand.
Owek. Osman further congratulated the National Rugby sevens team for its recent achievements they had in South Africa.
Later, the team captain, Michael Wokorach, handed over a new jersey to Owek. Osman who will later deliver it to the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV to make an autograph on it and later send it back so that it could be framed and hand it officially to OBB.
